Although The Anatolian Shepherd dog is a large dog and normally only weigh 50 to 65 pounds they are still a dog that likes to run. These dogs have been bred to chase small game such as martes Whilst they are working in packs. These dogs are also prized for their ability to guard your livestock and have been known to guard their family, even children. One of the reasons that these dogs are used in shepherd work is their energy. They are by nature energetic and while they do not need as much exercise as other dogs some are just as energetic as they are a way to keep their mind and energy levels in check. In Turkey the Komondor breed is well known and named after the region it comes from, the Komondor, as it is a hunting dog. These dogs are a large breed and can tolerate temperatures of -60 degrees to -80 degrees F. and humidity of 90% or less. This means that they can tolerate the cold temperatures and since they are working dogs they need to be fit and able to work. This dog breed is a lot of dog, and they need a lot of exercise, these dogs grown to their full size will weigh up to 95 pounds but there are many smaller and smaller and even these miniature samples of these dogs will still measure well over one hundred pounds. The Komondor is a dog that has a very distinct fluffy coat that is quite rare in the modern-day dog breeds. Although very rarely used in dog fights, the Komondor is still a dog breed that is well-liked among the modern day dog lovers for their guarding abilities and their "compact" size. The average life span of the Komondor is 12 years and the average height of the dogs that are recommended for breeders is greater than nine inches. So this gives you an idea that the Komondor is a dog that is actually recommended for those people having space challenges because it can fit into the smallest apartments with ease. A fully grown Komondor height ranges between 24-29 inches and weighs between 95-180 pounds. The females of the breed are much smaller and usually measure 14-16 inches and weigh about 70-100 pounds. Regardless of its size or its gender the Komondor is a very brave and loyal dog breed that has a long history of being both a shepherd and a companion to its master.
